Message from Mr. L

Joy, Laughs and a Lot of Heart from our Staff

What a week! Friday was a joyous day of celebration across our school—from creative costumes to incredible scarecrow contests. If you haven't seen them yet, be sure to come check out the outstanding 8th-grade Crew work on display out front this weekend (Mr. Pinkston was up all night getting those poles hammered in)!

At the heart of all this fun, community, and excitement were our amazing staff members.  A huge round of applause goes to Ms. Aberdale and Ms. Boeri, who organized an unforgettable Spirit Week alongside our Student Council. Throughout the week, our hallways were filled with laughter as students and staff dressed up for Twin Day, Meme Day, and Friday’s spectacular costume extravaganza!

Our grade-level team dove right into the spirit, too:
  • Our 5th-grade staff coordinated some fantastic literary-themed costumes that brought stories to life for our youngest middle schoolers.  Can you guess which book?
  • The 7Up Team brought the house down with a hilarious "Snow Red" (Ms. Girona) theme, featuring a notoriously "crunchy" dwarf who looked an awful lot like Señor LaFavor!

Every single day, these everyday superheroes put on their capes, grab a cup of coffee, and walk into our hallways with open hearts,  open minds and endless energy and patience. We are beyond grateful for their dedication, energy, and love for our students.

Thank you to our entire staff team for making W.E.B. Du Bois such a vibrant place to learn and grow!

Day of the Dead Ofrenda

On Monday, November 2nd, the student council is sponsoring an ofrenda for Day of the Dead.  This is a table where you put flowers, candles, and things that remind you of loved ones who have passed away.  Day of the  Dead is primarily celebrated in Mexico and Central America and is to honor those who have passed away.

If students would like to honor a loved one, they are welcome to print out a photo of them and put it on the ofrenda.  They are also welcome to place an item that reminds them of a loved one.  There will be a jar where anonymous letters can be written to those that have passed.  The ofrenda will be by the main office under the hallway TV.

Warm the Children

Kiwanis is once again offering help to families with purchasing warm clothing for children.  Warm The Children provides new winter clothing such as jackets, snowpants, boots, hats, long-sleeved shirts, longpants, pajamas and the like. You will be able to spend up to $100 per eligible child ($60 for children under age 5) at www.target.com. Only winter clothes will be allowed. Please complete this form or Spanish version and return it to your child’s school.

Celebrating Attendance!

Today Mr. LaFavor's Crew won our first  Attendance Party for the month of October.  This month the 7th grade worked together to celebrate bussers and passengers who made it on time and prepared to school with a pizza party.  Thank you so much to all of our drivers for making this the start of school a success.  More to come for our other grade levels.

Sports Equipment Drive

Hello! I'm Sage Kruh, an 8th grader at DuBois, and I'm running a sporting equipment drive to collect used items for kids in Berkshire County. From now until Thanksgiving Break, there will be a collection box near the main office at school, and we are looking for basketballs, indoor soccer balls, baseball bats and helmets, t-ball gloves, swim goggles, sport-specific shoes, ice skates, cones, and other equipment. Please only donate items in relatively good condition, and thank you so much for giving.
